For those who make wine, quality doesn’t begin in the cellar—it begins beneath your feet. Today more than ever, truly understanding the soil we cultivate is a form of respect: for nature, for our work, and for those who choose to drink our wines.

We live in a time when farming is a daily challenge. Costs are rising, the climate is changing, expectations are increasing. We can no longer afford to treat vineyards approximately or cling to unchanging habits. What we need is precision, intelligence, and innovation.

That’s why we’ve adopted INTERRA® Scan, an advanced technology developed by Syngenta that allows us to “read” the soil with unprecedented resolution. It’s not just about collecting data, it’s about transforming soil knowledge into more targeted, sustainable, and effective actions:

  1. Scans the soil—without touching it.
A sensor positioned about 60 cm above the ground detects natural isotopes. These invisible elements reveal a wealth of information about the soil’s structure and composition. The result is an incredibly rich, high-density map.

  2. Guides sampling.
Based on the map, samples are taken only from the most relevant areas. This targeted approach improves accuracy and reduces margins of error.

  3. Generates smart maps.
Field and lab data are integrated to produce detailed maps that describe, meter by meter, the soil’s physical and chemical properties: from texture to water retention capacity, from nutrient content to pH levels.

  4. Creates prescription maps.
All this information is transformed into operational guidance ready to be used by agricultural machinery. In practice, the tractor knows where, how, and how much to act with centimeter-level precision.

  5. Improves every agronomic decision.
Fertilization, irrigation, soil management, everything can be calibrated more consciously. Resources are saved, waste is reduced, and efficiency increases.
And the soil, finally, is treated according to its real needs.

For us, adopting a technology like INTERRA® Scan means embracing a vision in which innovation and nature are not at odds—but work together as allies.
A vision where every agronomic choice impacts not only the final quality of the wine, but the future of the land itself.

Today, our viticulture follows this path: no longer blind, no longer uniform, but guided by deep, practical knowledge of the earth. Because only by truly understanding the soil, can we hope to respect it.
